This Castle was built by the Moors in the 11th century. It’s located in the highest hill of Lisbon and its one of the most emblematic monuments in the city.
This small museum presents the History, and some finds from Lisbon’s Roman Theatre, whose archaeological remains stand behind it. The Roman Theatre was built in the 1th century BC and expanded afterwards with a full capacity for 5 thousand people.
This is the downtown area. The earth of the City. With the earthquake in 1755 all this area was destroyed. The rebuilt was made with innovative anti-seismic infrastructures to prevent following earthquakes. Its architecture with neoclassical buildings and traditional Portuguese pavement is a high point.
This is the biggest square in Lisbon and was for many centuries the most important trade area in Portugal as well as the entrance to the city. Nowadays you’ll see several restaurants and bars to enjoy the river. And you can pass the arch to enter the city and walk along the biggest pedestrian street in the City with its traditional Portuguese pavement.
This has been the area for the artists, intellectuals and writers since the 19th century. And it remains with this aura until nowadays. In here you can find the very traditional shops along with the trendiest places and restaurants. As a highlight you’ll also find a statue of Fernando Pessoa – our most known poet.
This picturesque square is one of the highlights of the City due to its surrounding monuments as well as its History. This was the area where some of the most important events in the 1974th Revolution occur.
